Billy Sheeley Course Instructor

 This Texas original brings not only skills and energy with him into the backcountry, but a stellar singing voice and a guitar to boot. His experience includes white water raft guide, working as a Mt. Hood Ski Patroller, and serving Cascadia with seriously fun and effective leadership. Billy is the guy we always make sure to ask along on any adventure, outdoor or otherwise. His history includes playing the booming Austin, TX music scene for years during college while earning a broad university education that he carries well. His academic air shows through in his interdisciplinary teaching style and committed work ethic. In characteristic Billy fashion, he says “I use music and outdoor sports as my outlet for creative expression while on the job and off the job, only off the job I get to take my dog Red with me too.” Billy’s favorite thing about taking teens into the outdoors is their constant motivation to make known the unknown and build wilderness skills of their own. If given just one reason he played the blues it would be to make nature fun for me and you. So true to spirit for this course instructor.
