When it comes to making nature more than a place “out there” Daniel has what it takes to bring us all back to our roots.  His success as a teacher and guide is grounded in his stellar personality that makes him a pleasure to learn from, learn with, and call a friend. Now add in his well-rounded experience as a Washington State whitewater rafting guide, snowboard instructor, teen adventure cycle guide, AmeriCorps field team leader, and commercial cook and you get some of the best outdoor wisdom a outdoor summer school teacher can offer. Daniel received his B.S. in field ecology and natural history from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA.  His independent course work brought him from the rainforest canopies of the Pacific Northwest to the costal thorn-scrub forests of Northern Mexico and even the jungles of Costa Rica to carry out scientific research for his studies. He has diverse fields of knowledge to draw from, a whimsical sense of humor, and a passion for real adventure in the world without walls.
